Scores displayed on this site are generated by applying user-selected importance weights and directions to publicly sourced metrics. The resulting grade reflects one possible evaluation framework — not a definitive, nonpartisan, or authoritative judgment about any president, administration, or political party.
Each metric is assigned a direction (higher is better, or lower is better) and an importance weight (1–5) by the user. A weighted score is computed from these inputs and converted to a letter grade. Different users applying different weights and directions to the same underlying data will produce different scores — that is intentional and is the point of this tool.
Visitors set their own weights and directions for each metric, starting from a small set of neutral, plain-language defaults. These defaults are provided only as a starting point and are fully adjustable — they do not represent an endorsed viewpoint or evaluation framework, and any resulting score reflects the individual visitor’s own choices, not a position taken by The Bateau Group, LLC.
All underlying metric data is sourced from publicly available federal government databases, peer-reviewed research institutions, and established nonpartisan data organizations including but not limited to: the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis, CDC National Center for Health Statistics, FBI Uniform Crime Reporting Program, U.S. Energy Information Administration, EPA, CBP, Department of Veterans Affairs, NAR, Freddie Mac, the Guttmacher Institute, the Movement Advancement Project, and Reporters Without Borders. Sources are cited within each metric’s data panel.
Some metrics have known data quality caveats including reporting methodology changes, lag times, COVID-era baseline distortions, and incomplete coverage. These are noted within the relevant metric panels. Users should review these caveats before drawing conclusions.
